Learn about the Players
CHRIS HERNANDEZ - The group's founder and organizer. Chris is proficient at both the bass and trumpet. In Milestones he performs primarily on the trumpet. Chris draws off a variety of music tastes which include jazz, rock, heavy metal, rap, and latin. Chris was a founding member of Afroson and SunGoddess. Two former latin jazz groups in Fresno. Chris has had the privelage to play with Poncho Sanchez,and the Dazz Band.He was a member of Fresno's own Gang's Back.He also opened for Zapp & Roger,El Chicano,Lighter Shades of Brown and recently contributed to the Platinum Ent.compilation "1000 degrees and rising..Was a member of the 10 time D.C.I world Champion Concord Blue Devils and the FCC Jazz band.
What to listen for when Chris is playing:
A strong emphasis on melody with recurring themes throughout his solo. A well developed trumpet range

Arturo Sandoval and Roy Hargroove
AARON THOMPSON - The groups keyboardist. Aaron's Primary interests are in Jazz and Latin Jazz/Salsa. Aaron has perfomed with Afroson, Roosevelt High School Jazz/Latin Jazz band, Cuesta College Jazz band, FCC jazz band, Fresno State Jazz band "A", and Central Coast Jazz band "Conference of the Birds".
What to listen for when Aaron is playing: Alternating melodic lines and chordal playing during solos. Strong emphasis on interacting with the soloist while accompanying a soloist.
Influences to be heard in his playing:
Bill Evans and Stephen Scott

Repertoire
A blazing fast version of "Impressions" that starts out as an avante garde Chart. A funk version of "Three Blind Mice". An original latin jazz composition by Aaron Thompson titled "Inspiracion", and an orginal funk chart by Chris Hernandez titled "Systems Theory". This list is by no means exhaustive. The band has a well developed repertoire with a variety of jazz music.
